Unemployed man
Every day, as a spiritual advisor, I receive phone calls from old clients and new who are scared because they have lost their jobs. Many have lost jobs that they’ve held for over a decade. Most felt that they would never be in the position they are in now.
Right now this is the reality of the economy and it’s not going to change quickly. Unemployment is the ugly scar of this recession that'll be the last thing to fade. There are ways that you can beat the odds and find a job or start your own small business. Let’s start with the basics.
I suggest anybody who is out of work or even those who have a job start some sort of home based business such as yard work or doing medical billing on the internet. One of the fastest growing industries is internet security. Companies are falling victim to hackers or a breach in data daily. Taking classes and learning internet and computer skills will put you ahead of the average person in the job market. Often when people are out of work they don’t think about the advantage of the time they have to take classes that will teach them new skills and increase their value in the job market.
It’s a proven fact that what you focus on you create. Therefore you must keep your mental self built up constantly. Use affirmations and positive thinking to keep yourself motivated. Read Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich." Every person has something that is strictly unique to them and they must see that as their selling point. Make a list and write down everything you want out of life, the type of job you want, your career future, and visualize getting what you want daily. What ever you can visualize-you can create.
If you are applying for jobs no matter how many times you get rejected, realize you are still one step away from a job. You cannot let rejection bring you down. Every time you are turned down you must push yourself harder to get ahead. You have to think and be more creative than the average person if you want to survive in this difficult job market.
Be willing to accept a job that you have never done before. Just because you haven’t done it doesn’t mean that you can’t. Sometimes you may have to settle for less money, that’s okay, realize that this is just a steppingstone to where you are going and if you are doing a business at home you have something else to fall back on.
It’s important to have passion about work. Many people see work as just an income instead of something that takes up a huge portion of your life. You can like your work and even love it. The more passion you have about it the stronger your drive will be to succeed.
Clarity, persistence and knowing exactly what you want out of life is going to take you from jobless to employed. Going through difficult times challenges you to see what you can truly do and accomplish. We frequently read stories about people who are homeless and had an idea and created it and from there became millionaires. Their persistence is what paid off. No one said it would be easy, but you can succeed even in today’s tough economy. The key is to never give up and what ever you do give it 100 percent of yourself. If you do that there’s no way you can fail.
Remember employed or unemployed you are in control of your destiny.
